Michael L. Salamon, M.D.
Dr. Salamon joined Ellis & Badenhausen in 2008 and brings over 20 years of surgical experience to his practice of orthopaedics. He treats a wide variety of orthopaedic conditions, including injuries to the knee, shoulder, foot and ankle, hand and wrist, elbow, hip, and the upper and lower extremities. In addition to treating injuries, he specializes in reconstructive procedures and joint replacement and preservation for a range of conditions. These include complex knee and ankle replacement, arthroscopy, tendon and ligament reconstruction, deformity correction, and foot and ankle reconstruction, among others. Personally, Dr. Salamon is very active, with passions that include skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and international outdoor travel. He brings these experiences into his orthopaedic practice, with the goal of helping patients maintain active lifestyles as pain-free as possible. He understands that injuries can be devastating and uses his expertise to help patients get back on the field. Dr. Salamon is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he has helped train orthopaedic senior residents for over 17 years. In this role, he has been awarded Teacher of the Year twice. Dr. Salamon has held several volunteer positions, including a 13-year term as Team Physician for University of Louisville men’s soccer, and has provided team coverage for Jefferson County Schools football. He has served as a board member at Jewish Hospital Healthcare Services and continues to be active in a variety of community organizations throughout the Louisville area.
